The series was included in the V&A exhibition Sacred, in 2001. The set is a modern treatment of the events of the Passion of Christ, a theme often explored in art throughout the ages.\r\n\r\nWiszniewski’s figures, though clad in modern dress, stand outside time and space, and appear to us as universal ‘types’ beyond the confines of any specific culture. The simplicity of the technique, the fluid lines and strong colour create a striking image. This print shows the scene from the Passion known as the Pieta, where Virgin Mary laments over the body of the dead Christ.","physicalDescription":"'Pieta', white-line composition on red background. From a portfolio of fourteen linocuts depicting the final events in the life of Christ. The stark events of the Passion are depicted in a series of simple white-line compositions.
