It is a project drawing for the\r\nLoggetta at the base of the much older\r\nCampanile, or bell tower. Originally \r\nintended to surround the tower, the \r\nscheme was reduced to just three bays\r\nand had to be altered to incorporate some\r\nexisting columns. The Loggetta, together\r\nwith Sansovino's Mint (1536) and his\r\nLibrary of St Mark's (1537) line the\r\nceremonial entrance to Venice and were\r\nmuch praised for their combination of\r\nantique Roman ideals with the Venetian\r\nlove of ornament.\r\n\r\n610","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null}}],"partNumbers":["610"],"accessionNumberNum":"610","accessionNumberPrefix":"","accessionYear":null,"otherNumbers":[],"copyNumber":"","aspects":["WHOLE"],"assets":[],"recordModificationDate":"2025-07-09","recordCreationDate":"2009-06-30","availableToBook":false}}
