The left image, with four panels each containing a cross within an arch, is labelled as the central door. The image on the right, with five panels, three of which contain crosses where the other two contain small roundels, is labelled as the first right and left and the second right and left doors. A small scale is written inbetween the doors. At the top right is the 'emblem and inscription on the gilt bronze cornice over the porta basilica on the narthex side.' The inscription has been translated from the Greek to read 'The Lord said I am the door of the sheep, through me if anyone enter he shall go in and go out and pasture he shall find.'
