For a related piece with Septfontaines (Luxembourg) marks see see Musée de Sevres, Villeroy & Boch, exh. cat. 1985, cat. 30, where this example is dated to the late 18th century. The man wears trousers rather than breeches, which may point to an early 19th century date.
