The inscription refers to Etienne-Dominique Pellevé, a native of Rouen and the son of Denis Pierre Pellevé, the first director of the Sinceny faience factory. Pellevé and another individual, Jean-Baptiste Monier, registered an MP monogram mark but it appears to have hardly been used.
